Just recently, well especially over the last six months it's hit me just how fast my boy's growing up. On the 12th of April George hit 16. Whilst I'd rather he didn't ride a bike I could hardly say no, so the search began for a bike and he's CBT booked for the 13th. He passed and a little over a week on he's covered over 600 miles! We had our first ride out together the weekend, well proud. The bike being prepped, Jimbo supervising Shopping for new boots and Kevlar Jeans, he liked this lid- Best you save up my lad as you already have two! The big day On the road New mirrors arrive Disaster as a van reverses into him- "It's ok dad, I see it happening and bailed off the bike" No major drama's, not huge damage to the bike and George was fine. He already has a list of wanted mods "I need more power dad".....
Must say its been awesome seeing George turn 16 and get on the road. Top lad!! Brings back great memories of when my dad set me off into my 2 wheel biking adventure. I can't wait to get him his acu next year and let him lose on my blade
I can see it now. There is the... "You're just making work for yourself there, George". "Now...Can you see where you've gone wrong there, George". and the ever green... "Gonna need another one of these fetching if you want me to hang around here helping you all day, George".
Seen loads of 70 kits and a couple of 80cc race kits, Athena for one make the 80 kits. Not sure I want to go big bore route, heard all reliability goes out the window? Planned so far 105main jet GA210 atomiser tube A22 needle on middle notch Dude who had it before had just fitted a brand new PHVA 14 carb, so don't think he would have done this but will check. 15t front sprocket Exhaust has already had resonator pipe removed and blanked and the washer in the downpipe removed, a and the carb plate removed. Bike goes well, just seems to hold back a little. Any advice would be welcomed
Put a Malossi 80cc big bore kit on my MTX50 back in the day, ramped the power up to about 10hp which was very good being as the 125cc's of the day were restricted to 12bhp. I even took my test on it after putting big 80 stickers on the side panels! I suppose technically I aint passed me test officially as it was still registered as a 50cc Moped!
nice to see a youngster looking after something too! a lot of my friends kids just ask can i have this or that and woudnt even know what a service was good lad!
