The time has come to get a new battery, I live on a very steep hill so startings been easy but its getting embarrasing having to get a shove every other time I start it:(
Would appreciate some advice as there is a massive range in price (demon tweeks) and types gel, Li ion, lead acid etc.

Dont want to spend a fortune but don't want budget shite either.
The bike is ridden all year but I don't ride daily and not in the salt ......so it does get laid up for a few weeks at a time in winter.

    Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for that, pretty good price as well:)
So I take it the fancy Li ion expensive stuff aint worth the extra cost?

Might have missed it on another thread but are you sure it is the battery. Probably worth getting it checked if you haven't as could be a symptom of other problems.

    Thanks barsteward
The symtoms are that the battery does charge while riding but has progressively got worse at holding charge.
However I do need to hold a volt metre over it while stationary and running just to check.
Its an RR8 on its oem battery so I've had my moneys worth;)

Sorted! the local agricultural garage have a rather fine diagnostic piece of kit, it has tested all perametres and decided that the battery is bolloxed.
    Motobatt ordered
    Thanks for the advice

I was having some starting probs on my RR8 last winter. Turned out the yuasa CCa had dropped from 120 to 80. So even through it was cranking the cold engine, this was not fast enough for it to start!
I was disappointed coz the bike was in storage (bat disconnected) for almost 3 years.
First thought of a fit and forget solution such as Lithium ion but the cost put me off (£180).
In the end I got an excide @ £25 and decided to treat it like a service item. Use it for a year or so and if the performance drops, then buy a new one;)
Time will tell if this approach pays off.
