Just been to look at the new AT. The other half was considering px his 16 AT in for one.
The retro paint scheme is stunning, pics don't do it justice!
This is defo top of the list now for a second bike :)

I bet they're far more comfortable than a Blade, but until the arthritis sets in I'm sticking with sports bikes.

Don't get me wrong, the Africa is a nice bike, and well reviewed, but it's a personal preference sort of deal. The bonus for you of course, Lozzy, is that it gives YOU other options. Just wait for him to get 'man flu' then head out for a belt!!:D

It's not a problem for me, I'm a tall strapping northern lass
My feet are flat on the ground on the standard twin so the extra 30mm aren't an issue :D

That actually suits you, Lozzy. Is it a demo, or did OH do the deal?

No its the 16 plate we've had for a while. It's the dct version, which he really likes but I don't!
I'm going to hang fire until the new Adventure's start coming onto the second hand market in a year or so. I'll still keep the Blade but fancy a twin for the longer trips away.
I think he's going to do the same....now his ' must have a shiny new thing' mania seems to be subsiding!
Horses for courses, but buying a brand new bike for it to lose money the minute it rolls outa the showroom ain't for me.

Agree Lozzy... but it would be nice one day to buy a brand new bike and not worry about the initial depreciation.

Yes, Lozzy and Brad. I've said this in another thread: if we really want something, damn all the negatives. Granted, it is a hard hit knowing that we'll lose 5K (or more) once we're off the dealer's driveway. But riding that new bike home, rolling it into the driveway or front yard, neighbours gawking, our heart racing, and emotions heightening like those of a first lovers union are unbeatable.

Perhaps we can do a deal. If OH is prepared to wait until next year for the 2019 model, he can buy his Africa and I can buy my 'new RVF' (yes, I won't shut up about it) at the same dealership!!) But please steer clear with that Repsol thing!!:p

Hmm, I don't know whether our certain mutual friend ;) would agree.

From my perspective though, I can see there's merit in your philosophy. I suppose it parallels a 'second hand' girlfriend who has already become accustomed to the 'domestic goddess role' (a role in which I am sure you're well-accomplished:D) and has lost all those early inhibitions of wanting the lights off! (while watching TV, of course:eek:)

I treat, and have treated Lozzy with nothing but respect and we have mutually shared banter.

I have deleted the alleged 'offensive' post.
