Hello my name is Jay I'm 38 and I have been riding 20 years +, I currently own a Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster and a 1999 Fireblade. I recently swapped the Fireblade for the VTR1000 Firestorm I had, it was a straight swap, the guy got a well sorted out VTR1000 Firestorm, which I loved, but the offer to swap was to good to turn down. Got to admit I miss the Firestorm and the thump of the V twin engine from under me, but I love the blade, the blade is faster but for some reason it feels less brutal than the VTR1000, untill you open it right up for the top end rush. Look forward to getting to know some of you, some of you may already know me as StormingHonda from the VTR1000 Forum.
I've had a fair few bikes in my time a couple of Triumphs a lot of Jap bikes and this Harley, as far as I'm concerned a motorcycle is a motorcycle and a biker is a biker no matter what brand hes on, and I know the snobbery you're talking about, I owned a CB900F Hornet a few years ago I was all kitted out for a rally and a Harley pulled up next to me and I said alright mate, the guy stuck his nose up and looked away. Also you get the model sobs as well, although Sportsters are Harley davidsons bread and butter, if you own one you don't own a " proper " Harley, to be honest with you, I wouldn't associate myself with idiots like that anyway. The Harley I own is a 1996 Sportster custom, I love tinkering with it, its a real hands on bike, they aren't as bad as people make them out in terms of reliability, but you do need to keep ontop of the maintenance to keep them on the road, all the break downs I have had on it have been really petty.
