Hi everybody! I used to come and watch for informations on this forum for more than two years now. So I think it's time to introduce myself... My name is Bertrand, 29y old. Living near Obernai, in France, next to Germany. Here we have two little mountains ranges (The Vosges in France and the Black Forest in Germany) and a lot of cool roads in vineyards! Bought a 2010 1000RR in may 2015, one month after a big crash in which my 2006 GSXR600 died ( another rider missed his corner and then hit me). So it is my first 1000cc bike, and i must say that for street riding, a 1000cc sport bike is just insane especially for our little mountains roads. Maybe too much, but that doesn't matter, I am not in "ride fastest as possible" mode This is how it looked like in late 2016: Here is a list of the mods already done on it (updated on February 2020) - Leovince full exhaust - BMC race air filter - VenturiSystems velocity stacks - Dynojet PC5 - 2012+ dashboard - UKRace Handlebar fan switch - PAIR removal - GPlus Silicone coolant hoses - Radiator guard - Exhaust & intake valves removal + Healtech servo eliminator - HM Quickshifter - Gilles Tooling shiftholder - Front sprocket -1 + Healtech Speedohealer - Yamaha R6 throttle tube (a cheap must have mod!) - 2014 rear shock - 2016 SP rear subframe - ProFiber frame and swingarm carbon covers - Brembo PR19 RCS - Brembo M4 front calipers - Brembo HPK Supersport front discs - Brembo P2 34 rear caliper - Brembo Oro rear disc - Ladybird underslung caliper bracket - Front/Rear braided lines - HRC like rear brake reservoir - Stahlbus bleeders everywhere - Domino GP handgrips - Lightech chain adjusters + lift forks - Captive wheel spacers - Lightech forks and swingarms protectors - Zero Gravity Corsa windscreen - DPM Race rear fender - Carbon parts everywhere... - SP seat cowl - Headlight black covering - A lot of titanium race spec screws and bolts everywhere... And probably other stuffs i'm forgetting...
Damn!! I should have realised I wouldn't be the first. Thanks for your kind acceptance of my sarcasm!!
Welcome Bertrand. Nice bike. Wow that’s a lot of work, wish I had the time. Nice place to live that. Roads almost as good as mine (not quite tho)
Yes a lot of work, but i began in november and think to finish everything during february, little by little i think it's great to learn your bike not only on the road but also in the garage ! where are you from Fwsock ? Nigelrb, no prob ! Riding fast bikes like ours also demands a little bit of humility, so what if you can't keep calm for a simple joke...
Hi and welcome Bertrand ! I thought that I am insane with my accessories, but as I can see, I am not the only one!
Thanks ! Yes, riding is not the only pleasure you can have with a bike ! The mechanical part is great too ! Searching for optimisations, better look... That's why I love accessories
Welcome Odium, I have toured the Vosges and the Black Forest, you certainly live in a beautiful part of the world.
Hi odium, Sorry I just realised you’d asked a question. I’m from central Scotland, and the highlands in fact most of scotland can be ridden in a day. The roads up north are absolutely stunning with virtually no traffic. It may be colder but it’s worth it
Thanks bradt ! Yes it is really beautiful there. I lived in Strasbourg during my youth then i left the city for the vineyard. Life is easier there ! Fwsock, no traffic... Paradise...! Here you are never alone... Well, did a few things today. Spark plugs change, silicone coolant hoses (what a pain to do without lifting table!! Never again ), washed the radiator in the bath while my girlfriend was not at home... Now I can begin the complete rebuild !
What's so good about that? I wash my radiator in the bath WITH my girlfriend!! I just have to put up with the complaints about a few creepy-crawlies floating about the water!!
