Thanks mate, that is actually really good advice.
Just two problems...I am lazy and impatient :)

That got me looking at Biketrader, my old sadly stolen RR6 2006. I purchased from the supplying dealer, one owner 3K miles at 10 months old for £6995, I am weeping at some of the prices they asking for 2006/7 bikes in those ads.
Bet they would only offer 3K trade in on a 20K miler, after much teeth sucking and hand wringing over the starship mileage, and making like they were selling their mother to do you a favour.

It's a nice idea buying a brand new 06/07 bike but you would probably have to splash out on replacing a lot of rubber parts that will have started to perish in that time and even in a garage situation corrosion can set in on certain areas! And I doubt that you would get a warranty for it

Sorry for putting a downer on your dream but I would buy a mint low mileage example that has been run and just very well looked after

I bought my MINT very low mileage anally looked after (I'm talking fairing off clean after every ride, wheels having to be refurbished after polishing thru the paint) with some lovely mods (yeshiva rs5, pc3, Harris rear sets...) Genuine repsol RR5 for £4500, it's had boxes of spares which have gone for approx £1000, so there are some good ones out there.
Mine wasn't for sale, bloke had owned it 7 years so I convinced him he was bored and needed a change :)
