How did you get on with this mate?

I was just looking at my linkage thinking that doesn't look right and remembered this thread mentioning the small gaps.

I must admit the metal to metal rubbing of such an important part of the bike is a little strange. Honda must've thought it wasn't worth bothering with.

Took off the dog bone on mine yesterday, bearing in mind it was stripped and lubed 300miles ago, there was a lot of gray crap from the wear from the side of the dog bone. I have measured up and will order some teflon I have measured up and these are 17mm bore so not standard off the shelf washers as I would have just ordered some. I want these for mine but if anyone is interested I would probably be able to do them for £10 for the 4 posted. I shall repost with pics when made.

Well I only took the near end ( wheel end) of the dog bone off, The dogbone is about 36mm o/d the spacer is 17mm dia, dogbone width 36.2mm spacer width 39mm this gives a total gap of 2.8mm. I did not measure the engine end as at the time I was going to make my own to fit at the time. I will be ordering 5 off 36mm od x 17mm id x 1mm. I know si1000 put down 17.5 mm either are as good. I think a clearence of .8 mm would be just about right. You also get 30% discount for more than 3 :)

Well had a look today for final sizes, engine end of dog bone 40mm wide. giving 3.8mm gap.I looked at the technical specs of different materials and found something quite suprising I had some moly filled nylon in my drawer ;) ( did I mention I am from Yorkshire ) So I machined 6 washers 5 at 1.2mm and 1 at 2mm thick. I fitted the 1.2mm ones 2 to the swing arm mount as this has the same issue as the dogbone then the others to the dog bone the 2 mm one fits at the side the engine bolt fits in.
I dont think the widths are critical as long as they stop to much side play and do not clamp when tightened. generally the assembly has quite a lot of movement when given a pull around so the odd 0.5mm here or there will make no difference
the washers are a little fiddly to fit but not bad.
    If I was ordering I would go for 5x 36x17x1 and 1 36x17x2.5

Unfortunately they are at supersnaps developing, The problem is it is so hard to do a photo, you just have to accept the result, I was slower than marquez before, but now I can beat him back to the takeaway :D Things like these do not make good photos.
