Hi all I'm just looking for some honest opinions and thoughts on a new trackday company coming onto the scene as the customers what would u like to see at a typical day that doesn't already exist ? we look forward to hearing your response and hopefully meeting you at a circuit nearby we aim to be as good as the top competitors currently offering trackdays within the uk kind regards APEX
welcome. Appreciate honest approach as above. I am not a 'track day nut' like some on here, however one thing which could differentiate you would be to run a 'road bike only' group - perhaps let the riders off in waves in that group with more experienced going first then real novices. I've done some 'road bike only' days and found they have a very difference feel to them with generally a more courteous / careful standard (not saying everyone is perfect mind).
We could possibly look into combining the novice group with the rd bike group and still have an intermediate group and fast or a separate group altogether but this will effect the number of sessions per day
Well after the response I've recently had from a well known outfit.......I welcome some new business and wish you well.......
Some very basic course info...... right gear for various key sections dependant on bikes wouldn't be that hard to produce would it ? even if it was just a good info map........ can you say any more.....or is it a maybe ??
yeah important not to get more than 3 groups? unless its a question of cost, but i would prefer my usual 20min slots per hour minimum sometimes riders feel they are better than they are and end up in the wrong groups but fail to see this and this can cause unease for other riders, so if riders could be grouped better, so maybe a way of montoring peoples speeds (lap timing) during the first 2/3 sessions, and then moving riders of the same speeds into those groups, for a much better last 4/5 sessions?
Course info a must could pin up circuit maps in every garage or grab a photocopy at sign on in the morning with ur cuppa of course 3 group trackdays us our aim as time and value for money is what we are aiming for crono days are a great idea making sure everyone is we're they should be would u be willing to pay a bit extra for transponder hire ?
Access to the circuit garages the night before would be of massive benefit to some, i don't mind paying a little extra for this, open pit days for the more advanced riders would be another plus
Access to the circuits the night before may differ depending on what circuit it is but well worth the ask to the circuits we are in talks with ATM
One thing I've always noticed missing on trackdays is brolly dollys As said some proper novice days, and policing of groups on "normal" days would be good.
more open pit lanes at more tracks .. the cadwell ones are great , would love the opportunity at other tracks.
This is a new venture I already own a business ATM i may only run the odd one until it's established it's very tight regarding number entries expenses ect I'm just being honest I know what I want at trackdays but just want to know what u guys want so it can be based around everyone havin a great day as it should be so to recap it seems everyone wants transponders and open pit days so far What are your feelings on using a new trackday company ?
I welcome good competition and wouldn't be put off by anyone new..... if you get it right very quickly you ll be a worthy company as word does spread very quickly in this Hi Tec world we now live in......
I feel that you are going the rite way about it, by asking what the customer wants. That's a step in the rite direction. I would use a new company without any hesitation as we all have to start somewhere.
I'm not a fan of open pit lane either, due to the vastly different levels of ability and speed difference. Much better to run groups and use chrono if possible to get the right balance in each. As for using a new trackday company it wouldn't bother me. It's all about the track time.
