    hi guys im kev from mold in north wales,i was riding a 2006 1000rr until august when some tit on a moped thought it would be good to ride off a path into the side of me turing my pride and joy into a cat b write off:(anyway hope to chat to a few of u soon..kev

    Welcome to the forum matey, sorry to hear about the bike!

    Chaps, If its a Cat B then according to Insurance Regs set out in the MIB Code Of Conduct he cant buy it back, its only allowed to be broken for parts only.

    If they sell it onto him with it being a cat b they are liable for having their insurance status revoked and a large fine, the police & goverment are cracking down on this big time in 2012, lets just say i wouldnt want to be going to any MSV circuit for a trackday wthout my V5!!!!

    insurance never sold me it back,,,they gave it me..lol,dropped it off the other day for me i told them i wanted the engine i told them i wanted the engine out of it,,,they have cat b it mainly because there is a slight scuff on the side of the frame,im gonnaput weld in it grind it back and re coat it,should be on track early next year if all goes well

    I wouldnt track a cracked frame. please please dont do it, no matter how good your welding the structual integrity of that chassis has probably lost 50%.

    Also, be carefull if you go to a TD with it, The police are going nuts for written off & stolen bikes at the minute, remember legally you dont own the bike and the bike shouldnt even exist!

    frame aint got any cracks in it mate,its got a slight scuff mark on the side thats all,just need to put some ally weld on it to build it up a little then flat it off to repaint,thats what a proffesional frame repair company did to a lads on another forum and it came back as good as new,im just to tight to pay the £190 they wanted to do it,lol,:D,not sure about this leagally owning the bike though,,i didnt do my claim through my insurance i went through SORRYMATE.COM,they were recomended to me,the when i asked about gettin my bike bike the soliciter said its not a problem as the salvage is mine,,frame been checked its straight just the scuff,iv looked on ebay and there is loads of write off frames for sale with no log books to use for track days,
    no way id risk myself if i thought it was dodgy id go buy one off ebay and strip mine:D
