The number plate light on a bike is not part of the mot . You can remove it as the law doesn't require you to have one
Onky time u gorra worry is at night time im guessing n even then its just a problem if sum copper has nowt to do n decides to give ya a pull n give u a vdrs - 14 days to ger it fixed n signed by dealer
Some testers like you to have a reflector on the back,my tester sells adhesive reflectors for £1 which is quickly removed until next test
was another thread on it , over here they will fail you on it. this is in our mot rules NUMBER PLATE LAMPS Number plate lamps are the lamps that illuminate the rear registration plate. Some vehicles may have these lamps fitted behind the plate. Where more than one rear registration plate lamp, or bulb, is fitted, as original equipment, any one inoperative lamp or bulb may be a reason for rejection. Three wheeled mopeds and light quadricycles do not require number plate lamps. no mention of bikes not having to use them and a local tester said if I remove mine I am altering the bike away from the original design as it came with a numberplate light.same way I suppose that cars that were made without seatbelts dont need them but removing them totally from a car that came with them isnt legal?
There is the important wording ......... 'where more than one bulb is fitted' The Blade only has one bulb so falls outside the law If Arthur was on tonight I'm sure he would confirm this for us .
Here's a link to the current mot spec checklist. m1i00000101 Number plate lights as mentioned are not a requirement but if fitted to the vehicle they must work!
Yes but does that mean if you remove them then you don't Need them? Testers I have spoke to here wouldn't agree, my brothers gt4 had a single Rear numberplate light so I would be right in saying you Can remove it and black it up? I'm sure the police wouldn't be too happy lol.
The wording also says "Three wheeled mopeds and light quadricycles do not require number plate lamps" should it not also mention motorcycle's?
