Welcome to the forum! The HRC ones that also say REPSOL are by far the fastest, lightest, best handling and most desirable blades..I assure you. And there is the proof. Best of luck to you!
Hello and welcome. Aim for a 2014 onward non abs if you can, slight upgrades from the previous version.
Welcome. Don't worry about the colour as we all know the ABS models are fastest, well it's obvious really as they are the ones with no brakes Besides which black is obviously the fastest
The seat is a Saddlemen's from Revzilla and the hugger is from Bestem. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/saddlemen-gp-v1-seat-honda-cbr1000rr-2008-2016 https://bestemusa.com/Honda-CBR1000RR-2012--2018-100-Carbon-Fiber-Rear-Hugger_p_2523.html
Perfect, thanks - I'm in the States for most of April so can pick up the and avoid the import duties Out of interest is the seat noticeably more comfortable than stock? My Daytona had an aftermarket seat and it was like riding a cloud
You'll find some details here. https://hondanews.eu/gb/en/media/pressreleases/35100/2014-honda-cbr1000rr-fireblade The changes weren't huge, mainly uprated cylinder head with tweaks to the fuel injection and a slightly more aggressive riding style. The SP I believe came with Olins suspension and Brembo breaks.
Much more comfortable. The bike is used for light track duty and the seat has grippy material on the sides that help a lot with the leathers. The only downside is it sits you ever so slightly higher than the stock seat.
Mixed bag at the weekend, one very low mileage 2013 in red, was likely a track bike in a previous life - various fairing lugs chipped or even cracked suggested a lot of whipping on and off, all bolts had been painted/marked to indicate if any came loose, renthal grips looked straight off a crosser. Otherwise not in bad condition with new tyres and had FSH, but one fairing lug was missing so it was completely loose at the join beneath the radiator which is less than ideal. Saw a very reasonably priced SP, 2014 plate, but had a few too many scuffs and had clearly been dropped/crashed at some point, so ruled it out Surprises me how many dealers advertise as immaculate condition, setting their clients expectations too high when they’re clearly going to see the issues on the bike when they come to inspect or collect. Third one turned out to be an ABS model, not advertised as such by the Honda dealership, so took a 2 hour round trip with no success there. Feeling sheepish as I always check the images thoroughly and zoom in on the brakes to double check this but for whatever reason didn’t on this bike. Lesson learned! The hunt continues....
Too bad, but it does bring you closer to finding the right one. Totally agree with you about a dealer's concept of 'mint', 'as new' and 'excellent condition'. I often wonder if that particular viewed the bike as a prospective customer, would they still claim it in such high regard. Keep your eyes peeled.
Funny what happens when you stop looking... A few weeks back I had put off buying a new bike because I won't get a chance to ride until May. Then last Sunday I woke up to an eBay alert at 7am to a new fireblade added, 20 miles down the road, in red, FSH, Yoshi R77 and a few trick bits and about £800 cheaper than all the others I had seen... A sign from the universe and definitely worth a check... I messaged the seller and within a couple of hours I had seen the bike and done the deal. Turns out the seller wanted a quick sale and the bike was in good shape and checked out on all aspects. Really chuffed with it! But now it's sat in a friends garage whilst I fly in and out the country for the next 6 weeks! Will get more piccy's up when i can get some.
Must be nice when that happens - with me its normally the other way round. Drive 100 miles pay over the odds and then a few weeks later find a neighbour selling one in better nick and half the price.
Sounds familiar on previous purchases though! The sportsbike market seems very inconsistent with pricing - seems to be right place, right time and luck as to what deals you see. Hopefully you can sell at a higher price when it comes to changing.
