You need to wait - but there will be video footage of said event on-line this evening - just be a while as need to head now to drop blade off for rehab!
Without spoiling Alblades fun ! In my defence I do have a valid excuse Had a great day the zx7r was flippin fast..............just ask alblade
Hi al, andy , I can say both these guys are very fast seen them today at oulton verygood Did come to say bye but you was on track , see you both soon , Ps andy can you remember to send me my pics please thanks .
Yeh handles like on rails and is surprisingly quick for an old girl, Felt like I'd owned it for years
Lol, it's like waiting for the wife to piss off to bed so you can get the porn channel on. I did think of you both today, especially with the sunshine and above average temperatures. As I was packing my bags ready for work I smiled to my self and though. Lucky Basta's
What a bloody good day - Woke to clear sky and damp road as mentioned but 30 mins later I was at Oulton - dropped the bike in the reserved garage and went to main building to sign on and get the included bacon and egg barm and a coffee. Briefing started a bit late and went on too long for my liking and then made it hectic to start with the inters group to do 2 sighting laps then stop, line up for noise testing which can only start at 09:00 - All got on track for 09:40 when 1st proper inters session started - first few sessions in all groups had lots of people running out of track / talent but as track dried it got better. Andy's bike is pretty quick and he can certainly hustle it through the pack more confidently than me. Steve (Barney) called in to say hello but one of the bike in our garage had problems and conked out after 1/2 a lap - queue recovery and much investigation of fault on old 600 CBR Problem was traced to a kinked fuel line (too long a line fitted previous evening / week) We managed to swap Faye into Novice so she could at least get track time using my track bike (being used by my mate Iain) - saw her go past the pits so went for our lunch which was again included Faye then appeared and I asked how she rated the bike 'It broke down, same place as last time, and same recovery chap and land rover picked me up' - she was not impressed - the LH foot peg had fallen off (but to be fair she did pick it up from the track to allow it to be re-fitted) After lunch hour which gave plenty of time to check bikes etc. it was back on track for 3 more sessions - track was totally dry now and the 'red mist' had stopped flowing so we had no stoppages - well actually that is not true, as somebody did stop on track, but more about that to follow.... I got more into the grove and Blade was going well - the lack of rev counter and gear indicator were a bit annoying but it still went OK and really does go OK for an old and bashed up Bike that maybe has not been treated the best By the end of the day my BT021 rear tyre I had purchased in France in September was nicely snotted up as below Temperature started to drop for the last session at 16:00 - 16:20 but by then the numbers on track had also dropped - Have all the tracktime footage recorded on the trusty GoPro but too knackered to do anything with it tonight. Final pic here is Andy heading home from the circuit All in all a top day, one of best track days with almost perfect temperature and my first dry day at Oulton Park - the price made it a belter, hard to believe its almost £170 for a day in high summer. Will try and do video and muppet clip / details on the weekend
I'm still bloody knackered - had forgotten just how tiring trackdays are - also need to drink loads of water to avoid dehydration is the key - think 0.5 of a litre between each session minimum. Video is there - just lots of it and trying to cut it down to about 3 - 5 minutes is the tough part
Top tale Al and looking forward to more .Andys rig looks great .I need to win the lotto to jack in work and set up a good bike and retire to a life of track days and sunshine .But for the time being be content with my lot !
glad you had a good day. 1 question though,no rev counter?? how did you get through noise testing? as for breaking down on track, dont worry,my record is 4 times in 1 day
Rev counter not worked for last 20,000 miles - got used to it on the road. Lack of rev signal = no gear indicator signal. For noise test they said 'Just rev it a bit' - could see it had a baffle in and said drive by would pick it up if it failed My bike was fine - may have been somebody off here who 'failed to proceed' at times while receiving instruction... how bad is that
