R1m love the carbon bodywork and hand pressed aluminium tank also the new front which is wider and improves the airflow round you ...I have fitted a race MRA screen and a race seat . Seat height is taller and you sit more in the bike whereas the blade more on top and really low bars and very high pegs which after a hour Ido have to get off ...R1m is more comfortable in the real world.....R1m engine has a great sound so like a twin down below then booms after 9k revs where sp howls and has taller gearing ....brakes bite better on sp.
Both screens are easy to change modes ....like the fact R1m are numbered also Yamaha track exsperince thrown in for owners which is a great day out......front end on sp sublime likes corner speed R1m likes slow in then punch out on a wave of power....both nice to look at wings on sp well designed ....

So after a month off the road, 2 weeks at home trying to get the bike started, new battery, new charger, even invested in a multimeter which I have never had the need for before (now I can't stop using it) .......then two weeks in at Ducati Manchester, diagnosed as a dodgy batch of Texaco E10 from a garage i dont normally use. They drained the tank, dried plugs out and filled tank with E5 super unleaded and she fired up first time!! They hung on to it while waiting for a couple of parts, rear foot brake light switch and temperature gauge sensor were both faulty, plus the recall for gear position sensor!!

All sorted under warranty which runs out 10th June!

Big thanks to Ducati Manchester for getting me back on the road, especially Chris who even picked me up from home in his own car so I could collect the bike!! Geat customer service and really glad its not the bike at fault .....faith restored !!:)

BEWARE E10 PETROL , I WILL NEVER FILL UP WITH IT AGAIN!!

That's super interesting. I wonder if thats down to something in the engine, like the compression or the map not allowing enough fuel in.

But yeah agreed, for a performance bike I think E5 is best. (Unless it is a daily commuter, like a 500 or a scooter).

Not having a warranty on a Ducati would worry me. Can you extend it?

(edited because I made a typo)

Been there, done that. £100 to vac out the tank. Now only have petrol car as well so the diesel hose is left well alone. Easy to do though if you're used to filling from it for the car.

£4 is a tiny amount these days. I’d think twice about filling it up with petrol and just getting on with it :D
