How many would put you off?? For example, would 5 previous owners on a bike with less than 6,000 miles put you off??
It's me doing the buying, mate. The bike I'm looking at has approx 5,800 miles on it and 6 previous owners. It's putting me off a bit. Would it put you off?
Yes that would really put me off to be honest. i do more miles than that per year, so for me that would be the equivelant of 6 Owners in a year!! i would question why on average, out of 6 people not one of them done over a 1000 miles!! It may well be a very simple explanation, but for me i wouldn't entertain it at all, if there is something seriously wrong it is going to cost you as the bike will then be 7 Owners in 6,000 miles, you'd be mad to go near it
100%! ha In regards to the owners..... yes as mileage seems little low tbh. but it's mental how many folk buy bikes then don't use them. but them on the flip side, they are less likely to be hard core sunday warriors, commuter track day type who've hammered the sh!t out of them? personally if your going to buy a sports bike to ride reg and properly, what could they have already done that you wont once you own it!
Just for reference, it's actually a KTM 990 Super Duke that I'm looking at so there actually aren't that many for sale, compared to Blades at least.
oh, 7 years old. at that milleage i was expecting it to be 3 or 4 years old at the very most. 6 owners in 7 years isn't that bad, i myself used to change every 12 months without fail, and i know loads of people that do so too, it is a different scenario now and maybe i would look at it and consider it if it looks in good order.
If it were me I would steer well clear as I would only ever own a bike for just a year if I was having problem after problem with it and it was costing me a fortune, or it had something wrong with it that no one could fix, no offence intended, but especially with it being a KTM as I have read one or two horror stories on them. I mean that, no offence intended at all.
No offence taken at all, mate. I'm by far no expert on anything. Any input from this forum's knowledge base is welcomed and appreciated.
Quite a few of the bigger Ktm,s have been known for all end of problems early in to the bikes life. There could be other reasons but it could have been a problem bike hence no one keeping it for long. I,d walk past and try and find another.
KTMs do seem to have a lot of owners - I noticed that when looking for my RC8R (I am the 3rd owner on a 62 reg). I think a lot of people struggle to adapt to a V Twin and go back to a 4 cylinder. KTM seem to get bad press reliability wise (on here anyway). Mine has been fine - no issues. A mate previously had a RC8 and now has an RC8R - no issues. Another mate had a Superduke 11 reg from new which was fine.
