just bought a fire blade off my buddy. Needed a bunch of things. My taillight isn’t working at all see a wire dangling by the taillight. Checked fuses they are good. Lost key bought a new ignition and gas cap set can’t get the cap to stay in the tank now I noticed a gas leak that puddles by my kickstand. I looked up in through the back and see a small drip from a screw. What do I need to buy for the gas leak also my horn don’t work. Does that have something to do with taillight it’s a 06
Hi and welcome. I think first of all ask your 'buddy' if he had done any recent works to the bike. From there, you might be able to isolate a specific problem and resolution. If there's a wire dangling from the tail light that suggests a problem. Look at the connector. If it's clean without road grime, that suggests it has recently become disconnected. Look for its connection nearby. It can only be in range of the length of the wire. Gas cap and lock mechanism hasn't been installed correctly. Because of that I suspect fuel is leaking from the breather hence the puddle at the kickstand. The screw won't leak fuel - look above it! Re the horn you need a multimeter or someone with one to check current to the horn itself. That is the first point of reference.
Take it with a buddy like that, you ain't spending much time looking for enemies then....................
Yes, was my initial thought. But then Crotchy might have got it at a bargain basement Walmart sorta price!
So I shouldn’t attempt to fix it is what I’m gathering from this thread and it’s a lost cause even at 11,000 miles
That sounds a good deal in any money language, especially if it's truly an 11,000 mile bike. Even if you lack confidence to explore the probs yourself, investing a couple of hundred (assuming you can spare it) with a reasonable technician (not a dealer because they charge too much) you'd still be miles ahead and have a great bike!!
+1. I'd snap that up! Over here in Blighty, even mid nineties low mileage Blades are fetching £2-£3k. Sounds like a steal.
Don’t mistake the facetious comments and sarcasm as anything other than banter. You have a mighty bike there that needs a little TLC to return it to a fantastic weapon. To echo Nigel’s comments, if you know a good mechanic get them to assist, sounds like you may not be the most confident around bike mechanics/repairs (don’t be afraid to admit that - I am only fit to go as far as basic servicing) so ask around where you live for recommendations on good bike shops and go get some advice.
