Evening People! Its been a real pig of a day today (more info in my demon tweaks thread) but the other problem I've had is... I bought some lowered pegs from Kickboxer last week (no problem there thank gawd) But after riding the bike today the gear lever was nigh on unusable. I have been tweaking the adjuster for a while now and its now useable (not great but ok) BUT There doesn't seem to be much thread left on the rod and Im worried its not enough to hold. Anyone got any ideas what I could do so I don't have to remove the lowered pegs. so miffed its untrue Thanks in advance
Cant move the arm on the shaft, as the position is how I want it but the rod length needed will still be the same length. Cant seem to find a longer rod they jump from standard 207mm to away too long (210mm won't make enough difference which is only other I've found) Thanks for replies tho
Is the problem that the gear lever sits too far in ( having to point your toes towards the bike)? I would either get a spare lever and bend it out or put some metal tube on it to make it stick out a tad more
No mate that aspect is fine. Its the fact that once the lever is in the right height for the newly lowered peg, there is barely anything in the way of thread holding the gear change rod in. Have a look at the amount of thread exposed on the rod. a longer rod would solve t but they hum up from 207mm to 250mm thats a bit too much.
Just get a longer threaded bit mate and screw it in, or a longer rod with a shorter threaded bit, my shift rod is cut down slightly and so is the threaded part too as that's what was available at the time and I wanted the shifter fitted there and then
Don't get how you can't put the rod back to original position and move the black triangular bracket clockwise on the splined shaft that comes out of the gearbox ? Take it now you've lowered the pegs you want to lower the gear lever the same amount. Let me know how you get on I'm thinking of getting some of those pegs. Approx 30mm I'm looking at
I think your making it hard for your self to be honest! I used the same lowered pegs and all I did was to move the arm on the top of the shift rod round until I found a position that suit, never had to adjust the rod

Ok cheers to stevie and SPS! for the cheap approach and Ill fall back on Arthur if I have problems. I didn't rotate the arm at the top as everything states that you may have problems shifting gears if you remove from a 90 degree angle!! If you reckon you tried it SPS ill give it a whirl, Cheers for info guys
Zips tear why don't you cut the rod and fab a sleeve on it to required length ,not a big job and won't look out of place
Thanks to everyone that contributed. I did try the shifting the arm on the spines shaft and that has worked a treat. Best of all it was FREE. Thanks peeps
What make are the lowered pegs and where can you get them from? Any issues with ground clearance? Thanks, Ian.
