Here's how to get your disc out:

1, Switch off the PS3 using the on/off rocker switch on the rear.
2, Press and hold down the eject button then switch on the off/on switch at the rear.
3, This will start the cooling fan which will run at high speed.
4, After a few seconds, tap the eject button a few times and your disk should eject now.

To exit mode, just switch off at the rear.

    my ps3 did the same
used a hairdryer and a hoodie to fix it :)

wrap the ps3in a hoodie.. face down with the rear vent accessible
heat the ps3 through the rear vent for 15 minutes with the hairdryer
then do not touch or move it for 15 minutes will it cools

switch it on and all should be well ....

Yep, I've seen this done and it does work. You've just got to remember to cover the eject sensor with your finger as you switch on from the switch on the back.

There are some YouTube how to's, but I'm on my iPad so I can embed them from here.

Tried it but no joy ...... it powers up for 2 secs then shuts down, and the fans don't run at high speed ?

Will try the hair dryer trick tomorrow ..... take it that this resets the solder joints?

Thanks for the tips guys ...
