Re-set ECU?

    Well I've entered that in the Search box but no joy. I know there's a thread on the forum somewhere about running the bike after the battery's been disconnected for a short period of time and not touching the throttle but am not sure about the procedure. Anyone know where the definitive post is please?

    Cheers mate. Got it.

    This seems to be the most commonly agreed procedure....

    1. Disconnect battery

    2. Reconnect after at least 10min

    3. Start the bike without moving the throttle

    4. Let it run until the fans kick in.

    5. Let it continue running until the fans turn off again

    6. Flick the kill switch off then (Quickly) on again.

    I'd forgotten the bit about waiting 'til the fans turned off.

    What you upto nick to need to reset the ecu?

    If a bike has a narrow lambda sensor, or if the sensor has been disconnected you have to ask your self how does the ECU know what the fueling is doing? The ECU reset is resetting what? It's not TPS as that also has no point of reference unless you or I say to the ECU yes that's 0% throttle and yes that's 100% throttle. It's not AFR as it has no way of telling what the AFR is? Have you ever asked yourself that question.....

    I'm putting it back to 'original' mate before I chop it in against a newer bike. I recon it makes more sense to sell all the 'bits' separately so I've removed the Taylormade zorst/PC5 combo (hence the 're-set'), carbon fibre hugger/front guard, custom covered 'comfort' seats, McGuinness screen and carbon block chain luber, HID lights and carrier and re-fitted the pillion rests. I'm leaving the rad stone guard, heated grips (can't get the fekers off!) and charging cable on and once I've cleaned it it's ready to go against a VFR and all this stuff will be for sale once the bikes gone.

    Got to say though, I do love this bike. I always wanted a 'blade and though some say there are better bikes out there this bikes the best bike I personally have ever owned. I hope I can cope with being without it come the spring. :( But, as they say, 'all good things come to an end' and, if it's going to go, now is the time to trade it in/sell it on. It's just done 1000 miles since the BIG 16K service and all the schedules/papers are up to date . It's still got 7 months extended warranty and I've just put a set of Michelin 2CT's on it so, at this point, I can sell it with complete confidence.:)

    have you had your ECU flashed? it's nor the ECU that alters the fueling,it's the pc5,take it off and the bike is back to standard

    Yup I've done that mate and it now idle's just like it did when I first got it. The flap in the zorst opens just when it should and it sounds luverly.;)

    Be real interesting to find out how you get on, I often think it may make sense for me as, my back's not 21 anymore, most of my riding is long distance, and I'm afraid I'll stuff it if I do track days and that's too expensive for me to contemplate. (son's Uni etc).

    What you gonna get El, I will stick my neck out and say here is the best bike I've ever owned...lol My TDM, can spend days riding round with no agro, shove stuff in and on it, don't even really get wet, much better bikes around in this category but I wanted something that's easy to maintain, can be fixed road side, good on fuel 60mpg, tank range of 200-250miles and so on, plus it was 7 grand brand new with two years warantee, ok so I spent a little more on it but when you think in this case a multi is around 12-15 grand and a fully loaded BMW around 18 it's a bargain.

    I'll let you know when I've sold the bike Scott, then I'll post everything in the 'bits for sale' section. But it won't be anything like the ridiculous 300 quid being asked for on ebay.....

    Hope you don't regret it I know I did when I had a brief spell on a vfr800, little things like forward planning on overtakes and such due to the lack of power soon drew me back to the blade.
    Anyway how much for the screen? :D
