Today I ordered a rear brake reservoir from Japan Webike and a new rear brake hose to fit to it. May take a time to arrive but it will enable me to get rid of the original reservoir which should make the rear look tidier.

Ordered an anodised black one and black HEL line and banjo's.

After a long wait, the reservoir is now fitted.

I had a new rear hose made up by HEL with a 90 degree fitment to the MC which I think also looks tidier. Had to cut off the hanger on the rear subframe where the old reservoir was fitted as it looked messy with it still in place.

Very pleased with the less cluttered look. Also had service done and new PR4's fitted. Good old BSD who were as helpful and friendly as usual and make great tea.

I have been having a problem with my rear brakes since the 'bling' reservoir and new rear hose was fitted.

Somehow air is getting into the system after the brakes have been bled. It has been back twice now to the garage, the system was re-bled and all connections checked. Tried it again and after about 20 miles the brake was massively spongy again. Now it has had the washer replaced that connects to the MC, but after a few miles air is back in the system again.

It would seem there is either a problem with the reservoir connection to MC or perhaps an issue with the new braided hose line.

Will have to put the old reservoir back on as MOT is due very soon.

If anyone has any ideas what might be causing the problem it would be very helpful.

Prob that the res can not breath, if the res is unable to equalise air could be drawn in through the seals when the peddle is released.

Thanks Arthur, BSD said more or less the same on the phone when I got home ie if there is no breather hole then it could be creating a partial vacuum and causing air to be drawn in elsewhere. I checked the cap and there does not look like there is a breather hole in it. Looks like back to original, well sort of as I sawed the hanger off from the subframe

That's pretty poor... i wanted one of those!

Are you able to contact the supplier/manufacturer, see if there's something not fitted right?

The air will enter at seals as they offer no grip of you like in that direction, as I (and they) say the vac is caused when the peddle is released.

I've has them all over time, this is my setup now, custom made mount for a Brembo pot. Old school is best.. Other option is the CRF450R master but they are a pain to bleed at times and you need to mod the lever/joint.

Sent them an email but tbh I don't expect any positive outcome from them, but I will reserve judgement. The product looks well made and is not cheap, but if it doesn't work then it is useless.

@Arthur, thanks for the above, maybe BSD can drill a breather hole, if not or if that does not work then I will revert back until I can get something modified along the lines of yours.

Less fluid would also help, a breather hole is normally connected via a labyrinth/pathway so any fluid that spills over finds its way back to the res/fluid pot, this is normally the plastic cap on top of the splash rubber it has a pattern on that resembles those kids games with the ball bearing in a maze (not telling how to suck eggs I hope) the maze is the pathway where air can get in but fluid finds it hard to get out, if any does it drains back when at a stand still again, a lot off effort just to stop some fluid leaking.. The so called HRC tubes cause the same problem when cut in half and over filled with fluid!
