    Hi All
I am thinking of getting some adjustable rearsets so i can get a bit more leg room . Can anyone tell me how much of a difference they do make ,and is there a perticulal make of rearset which has more adjustability/play than another.

Hi mate. I have the Gilles VCR rearsets. When you say more leg room do you mean more ground clearance?

They are very adjustable but I've got them on the lowest setting and they feel pretty close to OEM pegs. They do have a fair amount of adjustability in them and the good thing is that there is only one allen bolt to loosen to adjust them.

They do look amazing too. They are a bit pricey and I think that if I didn't get them as a deal with the bike then I wouldn't have bothered buying these as they are almost £400 new.

Seen a bike yesterday with some HRP (yes, P, not C) and they looked really good, similar to Gilles, but a bit different.

If you can't buy any, I can make some for you. Not as blingy as £400 worth, but will do the job?

    i have SES on mine

i took measurements and in the lowest setting theyre the same height as OE but can go back a good 70mm

cant use the full rear setting with OE can fitted though

im 6ft 4 have them lowest setting mid way back and its loads better for me.

need a brake pressure switch with these though if its a road bike

theyre about £240 and they crash very well and parts are easily available

gilles footpegs are about £30 each. SES are about a tenner

gilles flex loads too. dont crash very well. seen them wreck swinging arms as they bend in so much in a crash.

SES are very good. not the bling look but very good at doing the job

i got short pegs on mine for ground clearance

I have been looking into Verastep rear sets a UK company ,reasonable price next to the competition (£239 +£8 p&p) they look like they have alot of adjustability. does anyone own a pair ?

Honda CBR1000RR (08-11) - VersaStep racing rear sets. | eBay UK

Just to add, i contacted the seller and they fit a C-ABS bike too.

Great write up and think I will be going the SES route.

I also heard the Gilles ones are known to flex which kind of defeats what there purpose is IMO.

I know a lad who has TRW rearsets on his R1 and rates them but heard of someone else who said they were poor. I had considered them but happy with the SES ones

Theyre really good to deal with direct too. Really helpfull bloke and usually make them up and send them really quickly

Only downside is there are no instructions with them but pretty straight forward

Only sticking point is the rear brake pivot needs to be taken from the old rearsets and reused. It's just held on by a circlip

I have Gilles VCR's on mine. Look good and plenty of adjustment. I used to have mine set so my legs were lower and further back. Was fiddleing last weekend and moved them a bit forward which i think im going to prefer. Quality is cock on, but as stated before, they aint cheap.

Do the SES have any flex ?

Accuse my ignorance  but what do you mean they crash well ?

Not as much as the Gilles no. If you look at both the Gilles and SES or similar you will see that the Gilles aren't very meaty and as it's on a circular pivot, not 2 plates bolted together they flex alot.

I had them years ago and in the furthest back setting could push them by hand to touch the swing arm.

All rearsets will flex in a crash with the weight of the bike etc on it but I find the SES don't flex in as much as they're havnt got as much leverage as the Gilles if you get my meaning.

Don't get me wrong the Gilles look great and are better bling factor but I have seen swingarms trashed cos of bendy rearsets

I just want some rearset locater adapters (AKA jackup plates) but can't seem to find any.
Only ones I know of are Lightech, but can't even find them.

I thought about getting plates but my exhaust bolts to the sets and it would cock everything up

Not necessarily. Possibly would need a new bracket though.
