Stopped displaying mine about 20 years go, when I get sick of the scrotes that kept nicking them and then having to pay for a replacement

Ive lost count of the amount of thief proof holders I've had over the years.
The only person they keep out is me when I have to replace the disc after a year of crud build up lol

Got rid of mine last weekend. I have taped it to the inside of the rear cowling; out of sight and dry. I hated those tax disc holders, no real good place to put them on the blade.

Since having 3 nicked by the local scrotes, this means I can now ride without fear of being pulled because my tax disc is in the boot!

The other good thing is that from January they're doing away with the paper counterparts to your Driving Licence. Not before time.

On a side note, I have a question.
I taxed the mrs car earlier this month to start at the beginning of Oct, knowing that I don't need a tax disc, but I've not heard anything other than confirmation from the DVLA that it's taxed for 1 year. So what happens if we sell the car in 6 months time, how do we claim for the other 6 months bearing in mind there's no tax disc or any real paperwork to confirm how much tax is left on the car?

You just notify DVLA and they refund to the last keeper of the car before it was sold!

Because I'm a bit anal with paper trails. I keep old tax discs with service documents and receipts etc. so to celebrate the DVLA realising we're in the 21st century, I'm going to take the discs for the two cars I've owned from new and put them in frames for the wall in the new man cave.
