I opened the airbox today to change the air filters, took out the old ones to find them really black on the inside for 13k. Also they feel quite oily and smell of it too. The inside of the airbox is clean only a few spots of oil about and the air intake scoop looks clean. On looking closer underneath the I've now found an oily residue (mixed with dirt and dust) on the valve cover just above the downpipes and wondered if this is where it has found its way in to the air filters. Anyone know of a problem with this model for oil leaks around the valve cover? I can't see any other leaks or sources of oil.
