Getting close now. My 'cheap' UK screen is not matching all the holes. Have emailed the company and sent pics. I might be able to heat it and hope it will stretch enough. Note black backed numberplate MoT soon - Friday or next week
I had wondered about it. Only one company makes them. https://www.motorkit.com/en/tuning/526-seat-cover-aprilia-rs-50-and-125.html £50.00 plus paint. I'd rather spend that on my Hondas. This is merely a project. If I get too attached I'll want to keep it. A man can't be greedy - unless it's about collecting women. And that, for me is long gone since I lost my Brad Pitt looks and degenerated into a morph of Boris Johnson and John McCririck.
Gee there's some friggin' idiots on this forum. In my post 63 I complained of the screen not fitting right. Such things happen to those suffering the onset of middle age. I put the friggin' thing on the OUTSIDE of the fairing didn't I!! Just about went outside to top myself after one of the aprilia forum members tipped me off. Attacked it this morning, and, well, it fits. No replies or comments will be welcomed to this post.
They bloody will now!! Agree. The penalty of rushing things. Have so much on the go I acted without thinking - which makes a mockery of my earlier professions of one who thinks 'outside the box'. This was well and truly 'outside'. Already been around the industrial estate for a trial run. All running fine and buzzing like a 1960s 50cc GP racer. Have a new battery arriving tomorrow. Will re-check everything (make sure the seat's not back to front) and book for MoT early next week.
It's a problem for me because I form such an emotional bond by virtue of work put in. I've previously said that this is such a 'pretty' bike, as opposed to the black one also under restoration which I'll definitely sell. I guess I could liken it to forming a relationship with my Espana sweetie, whereas the black bitch will be a one night stand. (Apologies for the description, but I'm not very good with words)
Rapt!! Just got my MoT. Here, I hope to redeem myself after my incorrect screen fit. This is another example of thinking outside the square: I had no pillion pegs for this bike and know that MoT testers don't always overlook the lack of them resulting in a failure. To combat that, I created an 'aprilia Corse' carbon single seat unit. Cost £2.40 of carbon wrap. Looks crap but did the job. (Said carbon is since dispatched to the recycle bin).
Got the hangers but not the pegs. Going to need quite a few bits for the black one so will be scouring ebay with lust. I am the sort of person who copes better with one project on the go at a time, hence my desire to complete the 'Spain' before doing too much with the other. I guess it's part of our physiological disposition for never could I handle more than one woman at a time also.
