Has anyone had their rear shock serviced/rebuilt? Got a 2007 blade as project and rear shock is bit rusty - could replace with second hand one (but likely at least 13 years old!) so thought about service and powder coat spring. Advice on companies used, cost and benefit appreciated.

Likely forks haven't been touched either, so service/re-spring at company or tackle at home?

There's a decent thread for fork servicing on the sticky threads above....here's the link.

I know it's not your model year but they will be similar if not the same.

Also here's a couple of videos to watch which explain fork servicing for USD and right way up forks very well....

I did my VFR forks at the start of the year and they were fine, very straight forward and easily done at home.

As for the rear shock, I considered what you suggest but in the end I just replaced with an aftermarket shock. It's always a good opportunity to upgrade.

Thanks for the posts, with a little home tool making doesn't look too much hassle. Might look at spring rate for my weight and could change at the same time (although changing oil alone would probably make a big difference). Got a lot to do over winter, little projects never stop! Would like to keep the rear stock (as returning bike back to pretty much original), so will keep eye out for good rebuilder, as with nitrogen filling is a bit more specialist (and the spring coating is coming off!)

Will look to do my front shocks probably over the winter lay up, but anyone had rear shock serviced - looks like more specialist tools/equipment needed
