Hi after lots of looking and research I can't decide if to get a new standard repsol or a SP .. Just wondering what SPs are like on uk roads and how the riding position feels? I'm tempted to get standard and in time put a pipe on it... All experience and thoughts please? Although it's not a but worry to have it's doing my head in ;)

If you can afford it, sp all day long. Better value for money imo and the suspension has way more play in it to suit any road or track riding style.

    No brainier for me.

Thanks mate I can actually get a better deal on the sp than the standard so can get it at good price.. what about the riding position? Is it not a bit uncomfortable for road use or is it not noticeable?

Yeah app the sub frame is same angle but slightly shorter it's the bars and yoke that are diff making bars slightly wider and further forward

    Sounds better to me ha....

Can't say as haven't ridden one, but sure you can fine tweak it?

What's to say the standard is perfect for you? Only way to find out is test em back to back... But with the deal you are talking about it wouldn't even be a question for me tbh.

I've only ridden the standard 2015 which I loved can't test the sp as app there is only 1 per dealer and it's sat there gleaming with 0 miles looking all tempting.. At 5'9 I'm worried might be bit stretched over tank if bars are bit further forward but yeah can prob adjust that! To get the sp it will cost me £1800 more than the standard ;)

As above, bar position is the same for standard CBR1000RR and SP. I'd definitely go for an SP if its only £1800 more.

Personnaly, I ll put a standard second hand and I ll pay a front cart kit + good shock with a complete system and you have a sp, and surely better, for less money :)

A good shock and internals are £2k?? Then you have brembos to add and it's not really an Sp.... Especially when it comes to sell it.

Sorry, for £1,800 extra and buying new (it seems Brett wants new) it's false economy any other way round imo

you right for a futur sale.

But in term of performance / price, 2014 second hand + 2K and it's ok ( suspension /brake ) with the avantage of suspension setting for you.

Yeah not wrong, so all down to what Brett wants.... For a road bike I'm lazy so would just buy it already done! Ha.

We don't all have the contacts you do foenix to get things changed so quickly ;)

I agree and did think the same about second hand if was going standard but after looking at a few the repsols they keep there money well even for bikes that look like they have have quite bit of abuse .. I want abs too so restricted it even more.

Have you seen the threads on here re ABS? - worth a look before making a decision. The ABS bleed procedure is also very complicated (something like 5 hours labour every 2 years to bleed the system?!)

Yeah but the one thing I do disagree with is the abs, I'd stay away...

Always thought it's something to go wrong when I bought mine in 2011 and seems some have had major issues with theirs.

Plenty more haven't though. But wouldn't risk it. Either way, your getting a. Great bike ;)

I will look and check them out thanks tho don't honda give 3 years warranty? Also after trying the abs it's that good I still don't think that would put me off... I'm 37 in 2 weeks I'm getting sensible ha safety first ;)

All 2015 SPs were made with abs so if went SP wouldn't have choice
