Mate of mine couldn't turn his ignition on his Corsa at work yesterday, got a good squirt of wd, right as rain. I cant see a problem with it as the garage said thats all it wanted when he had it in for a service.

Brake cleaner first then use some silicone spray . Also check key hasn't wore and the tumblers are finding it hard to recognise key . If you have a spare key try that first

Giv, Just so it's clear it is your van your trying to turn the key in the barrel right?
You haven't just jumped inside a van and trying random keys in the ignition are you? :D

Don't want the forum to be helpin you in an attempt to steal somebody else's van! :D

Anyway on a more serious note the use of WD on the barrel will be fine as your problem most likely will be dried up and dirty old grease on the tumblers inside, WD will help to clean this and free all the internals off.
but I would follow up the WD with another lubricant spray such as white grease (this is whats used during manufacture) as the WD will dry out causing the metal tumblers to grind together n become stiff again.

Ha ! Cheers Craig and although I am 45 mins from Liverpool I have not quite got the hang of the hot wiring routine. I took the advice off wedgie using brake cleaner ( A good blast) and I have a tin of lube spray called SP 50 I think and I followed up with this a perfect result !!!!!

Hi Si . I couldn't run to the expense of a new type Vito ect but dropped on an 05 mint both inside and outside Berlingo with a genuine 28 thousand miles full service history and Mot to back it up it seems to run sweet but later I need 4 tyres as the original tyres are on it and although they are only 25 % worn the outer skins are looking old and a guy said it would be due to the sun ?I was going to get a KANGOO just like yours ,but I didn't want everyone around here thinking a Rapist had moved in. ;)
