As I have lost a bit of weight recently the bike seems a bit to firm on the suspension and so I am going to try and soften it up a tad to smooth out the rough roads a bit. I'll only do the adjustments one click at a time but the question is am I best doing the front or rear first?
Do both together by setting the sag front and rear Plenty of good videos on YouTube that will show you how. Search for Dave Moss setting sag his videos are great. Once you have set the sag then you need to adjust rebound and compression
Best 40ish quid spent having someone set it up. I done mine by trial and error and had it close. Took it for a set up and I think the max adjustment was 1.5 turns but what a difference it made. Mine was soft at one end and hard the other. He balanced it and got the front and back working together, sounds cliche but it was like a different bike. I've since knacked it by putting a ktech shock on. Got it close but needs more fiddling or a trip back to Pixies.
Thanks @Gaffa22 will have a good look on youtbe and warn the wife she will be spending time in the garage helping sort my saggy bits May get it sorted by a pro next year but I am still losing weight so just want to tweak it a bit for the rest of this year and have never played with the suspension before.
This. I use Dave's setting videos all the time. I also printed out a copy of his track day sheet to keep my settings organized. https://davemosstuning.com/dmt-track-day-data-tracking-sheet/ Edit, I also have a suspension guy in my group..so there's that.
As tuktuk said it's not expensive to get it done professionally But as I do road and track and used to be mechanic I preferred to learn how to do it myself. I spent a season as a track day instructor and also did suspension set ups for guys at the track. No where near the same league as Dave Moss but had many happy customers. So if anyone lives near enough to Norwich who wants a free set up give me a shout.
Why are you still losing weight.....diet moobs are just creepy Could be useful as pop up winglets I guess if you manage to get over 70 on the suki
I want to give that a funny but it is just the wrong side of gross, but more importantly a don't have a Shoei shaped head Still losing weight because I was a fat barsteward Nearly finished though and reckon I'll end up 4 stone lighter.
I went through similar situation as you; not because of weight but because of our crappy roads as I was contstantly being thrown off the saddle an riding with the weight on the pegs gets very tiring. I started by softening the rear damping which helped & I suspect this should work for you as well as adjusting the sag as loss of weight would mostly affect the rear end For me, a year later, I felt the front needed the same treatement as the road surfaces got worse. This time I bit the bullet & went to suspension tuning specialist to have the full adjustment made. I think for more or less £50, it is worth it
