So thinking of getting the swingarm off over winter to refurbish it. Its black, but has loads of stone chips. Lets an otherwise very tidy bike down.

Any hints or tips in doing this? Supporting the bike etc..

Not sure what coating to go for either. Anodising, powder coating, painting.... Gloss or satin black

Axle stands, lumps of wood and a car jack under the engine have always worked for me. Good luck splitting it. Hope its not too difficult.

My ZX10R is currently on an Abba with the swingarm removed. Mine is being powder coated, matt black, the others are far too glossy. You'll need to remove and refit new bearings for them to blast it, so maybe more cost effective to paint. I got charged £40 cash to have mine blasted and powder coated + £70 for bearings (Wemoto).

Would probably be a lot easier to fit a carbon cover. I think it will give cleaner look to be finished in a satin black though.

My business is a bodyshop, so another option could be to rub down the swingarm with a DA, then mask the bearings and get it powder coated satin black.

Don't want to be re-doing this job a couple of years!

    Might look at Abba stands.

Look for race spares, I got a brand new un-used swingarm for £50. It was totally perfect condition and then I put covers on to keep it like that :)
