As long as you have a legit paper trail then yes. Think about it! If I bike is built from scratch then it'll have no frame number. If a bike has been built from a new road bike it'll have numbers but say the Rider crashes mid season and bends the frame? He then buy's a new one which will be numberless and rebuilds his bike. The scrutineers aint then gunna say "No-can-do-matey" are they as long as he has receipts etc. It's even quite possible not to have an engine number if the casing that it's stamped on has been replaced due to a blown engine or other damage. At the end of the day it's all down to a legit paper trail
Mike's R6 has had a new frame which has got no numbers on it and he hasn't had a problem with it at all. The only club I have encountered so far is NG Road Racing who ask for the numbers, but it hasn't bothered them. All I would say YT, is don't rush into a bike. There are loads out there and you want to get the right bike. I would still favour a Kawasaki or Yam over the Hondas. Far more spares available for them.
Nice bike, but it is still on stock suspension, so that will add on £1500 or so. The 2006 and 2007 models are the same, the 2008 has variable inlets and titanium valves, slightly different bodywork, but is essentially the same. Nowt wrong with the 06/07 models, just make sure it has had a race shock and forks re-valved.
Looks like its gonna be difficult to get a decent r6 that's not dodgy and has the right setup/spec for 3.5K

I've got all winter to look but this bike has some amazing spec, however if its too good to be true I'm guessing it normally is!
I will have 3.5K by november, that is my budget. Anything else I save up this winter is going on a van. thing is bikes will be cheaper this side of xmas from what I've been told, if I get the van first and leave the bike till next year they will be pricier?? You may be right on prices YT, but in my experience most things for sale are cheapest in Jan/Feb when Peeps get their Credit Card Bill from Christmas and then shat em selves on how they will pay for it thus panic sell gear to sort it.
Only downside is a standard rear shock on it. If you are going racing, a race shock is a must. I learned the hard way on this. With regards to the one that started this thread off, I think you would be wise in speaking to the ACU, asking for the Road Race department on 01788 566400. At least this way, you will hear it from the horse's mouth as it were.

Wheels with discs would be about £500 give or take: this guy has some: R6 breaking kit parts etc - General for sale - motoforum Don't be swayed by the word Ohlins, there are things like Maxton and Nitron that will be more than up to the job for you.
Honestly, the number of bikes on ebay/motoforum etc is growing as people get rid for winter. something will turn up that will be a gem. £3,500 will get you a good R6 2CO (200-07), so keep on looking and the right one will turn up. You could always put a wanted ad on motoforum to see what reponse you get. After all, you wouldn't have to purchase anything, but it would give you a feel for it. Plus you never know, somebody may come along and be prepared to take a bit of a loss for a quick and easy sale if they know that there is a cash buyer waiting.
