Picked up my Venturesheild kit yesterday ! £91.60 doesn't seem to get you much for your money, just a meter long Cut out shapes on 3M vinyl. Wish me luck fitting !!
Remember to thoroughly clean your hands before starting and soak your fingers with the solution BEFORE peeling the film off the backing or you will get fingerprints, hold one corner with your wet fingers and spay the rest of the film, if it is not wet it will not slide. Once in position start at one point and get the excess water out until the film does not move, then you can start to move the water out from the rest, try not to peel it back off once it starts to stick fully or it will stretch or cause a hazy finish. I would leave the nose cone until last, at least you will have the hang of it a bit by then !!
The way to avoid yellowing is not to use any cream type polishes as they all contain a mild cutting agent which cuts into the surface of the venture shield. Whey you clean your bike if it's fitted with venturesheild, use a mild soap wash (Autoglym, Meguires etc etc) to wash the bike, then use a spray polish such as Demon Shine Spray On, Autoglym Instant Show Shine, Meguiars Gloss and Protect Mist & Wipe......... Or any spray on shine as these don't contain abrasives. This will ensure your Venture Shield doesn't yellow, but "extended" periods left standing in the sun can also contribute to a yellowing. At the end of the day, it's capable of preventing stone chips to your paintwork, so should you wish to sell your bike, take the ventureshield off and the bike looks way better than if you hadn't had it. Personally, I think it's worth it to protect what could be an expensive respray.
