I started on the roads when I was 17 then when I was 23 did the ron haslam race school on there cbr600s after the last session I gave the instructor a run for his money and he advised me to have a go at racing as he said I showed masses of talent . I bought a zxr400 for £750 and entered my first race at elvington in the rookie400 championship and won I was then signed later in the season by yorkcityracing under john batchelor who had a BTCC team and wanted me as his first bike rider .The aim was to finish F400 then enter me into a bsb support series "ducati monster" then BSB as a privateer team unfortunately yorkcityfootball club under batchelor went into administration so I lost the backing The year after I got a 5 year bank loan and I bought a k1 gsxr1000 from dancaster motorspares put a race fairing on and a can ,and entered a few in derby phionix ,auto66 and newera .I had a few wins and podiums even on stock susspension and did a 56.6 round Mallory As I had a bank loan for my race bike and funding all the racing myself at this point I had to quit racing, my times were good enough for superstock 1000s but at the time my k1 was old and all the bsb lads were on k3s I just could not keep up with financing the latest bike plus all the mods needed and entryfees myself I eventually started road riding again having a k6 600 a zx10 2005 , and now the hrc blade
