Not a day goes by that I don't miss my SP1. I look at eBay and bike trader every day looking for a good used one but most look like they have been crashed into an M&P window with awful mini indicators and disgusting tale tidies, generally in rag order. I remember April 2000 riding away from CJ Ball (In hales then) on my brand new one, the sound, the look of the bike and that swimming pool deep stunning red colour. Look at Hunts Honda website and click on classic bikes on the left of the screen, if I was a rich man I would go in throw £40k on the table for his brand new never used SP1 and SP2. My 2012 blade is awesome, but no way near does it have the passion of my Old (and long gone) SP1 and SP2. If you get one hang on to it.
Our Continental raids used to be a nightmare, my mates SP1 was gagging for fuel every 60-70 miles or so during hard running, we used to overtake the same cars towing caravans about 6 times during the first day out of Calais, they seemed to go everywhere at 60mph whilst we seemed to be 120 everywhere and end up the same distance after 8 hours...lovely noise though
Nice one Rob. What is it about this one bike that's so visceral and gets under your skin. There is one I sometimes intercept on the way home. I'll drive like a nutter to get behind him when he gets to the village bypass. If you think they sound good to follow, try it with an open top car and no crash helmet to muffle the noise. It's like God throwing up!
