so I’m going to fit a new chain and I’m wondering what is the ideal position of the wheel ie swing arm pivot to spindle? Before I go ahead and rivet it. Cheers in advance

Fair call, Charles. But I'd sure like to see an analyst's report of a worn chain versus and brand newy, and I think, based on the performance of metals under duress, that the result would show elongation of most links (if not all) with the resultant length of the chain being greater than the original spec. This is just my educated opinion after serving an apprenticeship as a Fitter and Turner and a lengthy period as a motorcycle mechanic. I'm heading to Google - stay tuned!!
