Not knowing the bike that well yet can anyone tell me where the fan switch is situated? In this heat my Blade is getting very hot when I'm coming off track or it's left ticking over. I have burped the bike with the front wheel elevated and it did get rid of a lot of air but the fan doesn't kick in till it hits 102c and that seems stupidly hot to me. I'm tempted to hard wire the fan to always be on as I don't want the bike getting near or over 100c. It's ok when I'm riding around and sits in mid 80s or low 90s if I'm really spanking her but as soon as I slow down into pitlane it starts climbing quickly as the residual heat gets drawn off the heads but there isn't the airflow through the rad to get rid of it. Any ideas?
I don't think your temps are a problem mate, a lot of bikes with sealed systems get to 103 before fan is switched on. My old bike (04 gixxer) came on at 105 and was considered to be running dangerously hot (time to switch off) if it made 110 for some reason. Andy B
My 04 engine fan comes on at 105.. Temp switch is behind the head by the thermostat not in the rad. Doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with yours at all..
Wow thanks for the replies guys but that just seems crazy hot! It ends up filling the large expansion bottle and then chucking some out of the overflow pipe when it's full. Does take a couple of days to get that bad.
