Hi gents just joined and looking at px'ing my 1198 for a blade (had loads of bikes but never a blade) I've been looking at 2015 models and onwards , anything to keep an eye on?? I've heard some horror stories about the abs systems being a pain but are they that bad?? I like to mod my bikes ie suspension, brakes ,wheels and such like any bikes better than the other??

    Cheers .

Yes. Form April 1st 2018, ABS is mandatory on all new m/cycles over 125cc.

You will see threads on here where members have successfully removed ABS from affected bikes. Removing ABS from post April 2018 might affect MoT, but then it wouldn't come around until 2021.

Yes I'm going to start stripping it very shortly to put back to standard and px it. Unless anyone wants it as is.

Overall yes. Thinking back over the last 15 years of bike apart from the ABS issues, the 08s had an oil usage problem, the gearbox can be a bit weak on some bikes, 3rd springs to mind, stators were an issue on 04/05 and some later models, reg/rec is a Honda weakness, as well as the cam chain tensioner. Most are easily rectified, see what I did there :), and as you are looking at newer models you should be fine. If you want to track it you can replace third gear with a Nova which seems to be the cog of choice.

Sometimes I think I have been on this forum too long and retain too much random information

The Blade is the only sportsbike I have trusted for all year round commuting/high mileage. Never missed a beat...they're super reliable & pretty bomb proof for that sort of thing.
