this one is for nigel Took the rear wheel out today so I could grease the spindle and clean the brakes. Because I had the wheel out I had to clean it. Now with my VTR I ground all the casting marks and writing off and then painted it black. Also less spokes. What a pain in the posterior(that’s for Lozzy so I don’t get banned) the blade wheels are. Three coats of polish, greased spindle, grease clutch cable, cleaned swingarm and just for nigel blacked out number plate
I do share your pain. My 2004 and 2011 3-spoke wheels are so easy to clean. However, the Marchesinis on the SP2 and MV can be a pain because the spokes are fluted, which means having to ram a piece of cloth inside each of the spokes. Particularly difficult on the front because of the discs. I can relate to your because the OZ wheels on the aprilia are a similar design. I was in polishing mode today also. Started a clean-up of the tiny aprilia. Autosol'd the frame, WD40'd engine and muck from swing arm etc. Will prob take the wheels off tomorrow to get into all the tight spots. Pic is yesterday's prior to doing any work on it. The guy who owned it might have been a relative of @PauloHRC; friggin' stickers all over it, but nowhere near as discrete and relevant as Paul's jobs. (Put that bit in to prevent a dislike)
Can you hear that scraping noise... It's me getting down on my knees to apologise... You were right...it looks loads better! Stunning infact I think I'll change mine too now lol Righty I'll remove that downvote
Yep, and what a difference it makes. Well, to those of us who have rather particular design tastes it does. Good pick up, Paulo. No idea why it was there; might have been packing the battery box. I had already looked at it and it belonged to a Gilera of about two years earlier.
Painted my wheel weights black as well but nearly painted the whole bike again. Had a touch up pot in one hand and the brush in the other, lent over to look under the bike and guess what? Yes tipped the paint out all over my hand and cuff on my jacket. Could not stop laughing at myself
I'm betting poor @Lozzy hasn't been on her knees for a while. Just doesn't seem like the praying kinda gal to me.
@bazzashadow Sorry to sound a doof..but did that new carbon hugger come with bolts? Or are the bolts etc from the one Honda put on our bikes? It's just I've still to sort that sheared off bolt out I showed you. And I don't think the other ones are in brill condition! If I decide to do the same as you then maybe I'll have to buy new bolts?!?
Just buy some anyway, Loz. A collection of spare bolts, screws, nuts and washers is invaluable. I follow the old philosophy: 'It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.' That's worked wonders for me in life. Except in marriage.
New bolts and brackets come with it. And I did see yours had sheared off. One of mine rounded so I was glad it came with new bolts
