Have been lurking for a while and thought it was about time to do the intro.

Have had a '99 Blade from new and thought I had learnt to ride on it over the last thirteen years untill I had a go on my mates 08 Blade......WOW.......what a bike, so over the winter I picked up a 08 Blade with just 724 mile on with the book fully stamped up. The chicken strips were as wide as the middle bit !!

It went on the road in May and have had to relearn loads of stuff as it is so dam good and fast, but you all know all this.

    Went from this

    to this

The old Blade has over 54K on the clock and still runs like clockwork, but I can't see me selling.

I have tried the "adventure thing" for a few years but still kept on coming back to the old Blade, it is set up for touring with Heli bars, lowered seat and pegs.
The new one is standard at the mo as it just seems to work as is, and am looking forward to taking it to Spain later this year.

It probabilly helps that I live in South West Wales too.

    Cheers

    Bart

Welcome Bart. Nice introduction and great bikes, If I had the same bike for as long as you I doubt I would want to sell it either. I have had a number of blades over the years and 2008/2011’s are the best so far. Cant comment on 2012’s but there are others here that can.

Well done on heading the picture pimps off at the pass. you have done your homework fella.

We have had quite few new members from Wales in the last few months to I am sorry to inform you there is quite a waiting list forming to borrow Dan's sheep

Cheers guys, thanx for the welcome.

The old Blade definately is a keeper, it just seems to fit now and I have so many memories of great trips on it, but the new one is so intense by comparison, they are two very different bikes. Looking forward to exploring the new one though this summer.

By the way, where is Dans que.....???

    Nice bikes!

I trod a similar path... RRT (918cc) that I thought could not be bettered, onto an RRY (929) that was SOOOO much more immediate in its power delivery that I had to take a few steps backwards before I could carry on forwards, if you know what I mean.
Then onto an RR7 that threatens my licence every time I so much as look at it!!!

    Welcome to the forum :)

Yep, no chance of selling it (RRX) as you say have too many memories and could not bare to see someone abuse it. In fact at the moment IF I had to only have one bike am not sure which it would be, please don't shoot me down for saying this. Just need to get some miles on the 08 and gel with it on a long trip somewhere, maybe via Chepstow !!

It is still a great ride and a good road bike and the carbs are sooooooo smooooth.

I always wanted a 954 but somehow it never happened, another classic Blade.
