Bought a replacement tank for my 2010 ZX10R and it came with the OEM key operated filler cap fitted. No key came with it and it's locked, wasn't bothered as I'm swapping my screw filler over from the old tank. However it seems you can't unbolt the whole assembly without the cap being open? Is this correct or do I need to yank it harder? If it needs to be open then has anyone drilled one out or would I be better taking the tank to a locksmith?
Yeah mate it needs to be opened via key then it all is removed to be honest I've jiggled loads of them with a filed down key if you yank at it . It might bend the tank . Don't know if this is any good to you or to extreme send me the tank I'll sort it
Or mate dig away with a drill bit you will eventually get through the barrel and tumblers will drop out then use a screwdriver to turn .
Success Wedgie! It took going up to a 13mm drill bit and me biggest Flat blade but I showed it who's Boss in the end! Just need a length of Rivet Strip now as annoyingly I've lost one off my Can somewhere in the Garage! ..............oh, and as for Kwaks falling apart, so far I've found both my ZX10's are far better put together than my Blade, especially the fairing bolts, clips etc
