Decat

Has anyone decatted there rr6 did it flag up any codes?
Also does it still pass an MOT without the cat?

 

There are a few threads on here regarding the decat.
There are a few different options.
Personally I got hold of a set of US headers and swapped them as they don't have a cat on them, but you will either have to modify them to fit the lambda probe or get an O2 Eliminator.
You won't have any issues with emissions at the MOT as bikes aren't tested for that.

 

I have seen that there is some where you can buy a pipe to replace the cat all you need to do is cut it off at a certain spot and it slips over the pipe. But it costs £100 I was hoping I could cut it on the bike.
Would it go down as an advisory if it didn't have a cat?

 

You can buy a new set of stainless headers without the cat for around £100. Or some people have taken the headers off and smashed the internals apart.
Never had an advisory with mine.

If I removed the cat would I have to get it remapped or not?

 

Personally I would, which is why I fitted my end can & a PCV at the same time and had a custom map done.

 

So did you get them to fit everything at the same time so they could put it on the rolling road afterwards

 

Nah, I spent a few days fitting the parts myself and left the PCV on the standard map. Then took it to HM Racing to have it dyno'd.

 

Ray, do you need a special pipe to go from these headers to the silencer ?

 

I fitted a set of standard US headers to mine, but I believe Mr Jones fitted this set of headers with a Leo Vinci end can.

Could I get away with out buying a power commander if I decat it

 

The latest thing seems to be to reflash the ecu instead of getting a Power Commander, but I'm not sure if this can be done with the 2004-2007 model as I've not read up on it much.

I guess you can probably get away without one if you're leaving the lambda sensor in place, but I would prefer to get it mapped so you know it's burning at its optimum.

 

I will be leaving the lambda sensor in just gonna smash the inside of the cat to bits

 

Can't really afford to get it remapped but just checking to see if I would have to get it remapped or not it I remove the cat

 

Hi Tony ..I'm wanting to take the insides out of the cat but like you I don't want to get a remap ..how was your bike after taking the insides out of the cat.cheers
